Graded Panda's

I've been thinking about getting a graded Panda, namely the one here:

http://www.gainesvillecoins.com/prod...daNGCMS69.aspx

Since it has been graded by NGC I highly doubt its a fake...but is there a possibility that it could prove difficult to sell because of the bad rap?

I do not think that it will be difficult selling graded Chinese Pandas especially if it is graded by NGC or PCGS. Since the Panda has a bad rap, then it might be better to pay a little extra money to buy an NGC-graded panda as opposed to a raw panda IMO. The fact that the panda is graded by NGC might offset the Panda's bad rap when it comes time to sell. As for what you might get for it when you sell it might be a different story. It just depends on where you decide to sell it.

It may depend on where you live. In my neck of the woods you never see pandas for sale at dealers because nobody trusts them so nobody buys them, hence my smart aleck remarks about pandas in general.
Reading posts on the forum tells me pandas are quite popular in other places.
Your call!

Re: Graded Panda's

I've only gotten burned by them.

They cost more to slab and the market used to be minimal. But, that was a year, plus, ago, and I only sold them on E-Bay. Times are changing, but only changing and not changed, yet...

If you want one, then go for it and that is not a bad price. I would just think twice about buying a butt load of raw Pandas, get them graded, and try to flip them, just because Chinese people appear to be on the cusp of Silver & Gold buying frenzy. Personally, I wouldn't buy the hype, but eye wood buy the coin, if I liked it... Good-Luck.

It's a great price for 69 NGC slabbed Panda.
Keep in mind though , the coin in your link is not the standard issue for the series, but rather a commemorative marking the "30th Anniversary of the Issuance of the Modern Precious Metal Commemorative Coins".
Could end up being worth more someday because of it, or less.
Never know.
I agree, if you like it, buy it.
I have tons of raw Pandas I'm aiming to unload one of these days. Probably slab the early year key dates and proofs I figure.

In hindsight, you are correct; It is a great price.

Re: Graded Panda's

I was thinking, the price is very appealing. Usually pandas run $25-39 at dealers from what I have seen. APMEX has them for $29 right now, so paying an extra $5 for a graded 69...seems like a no-brainer to me. I just don't want to be stuck down the line 10 years from now when silver is $100+ and I have something that no one will believe is real. I think the NGC grading will help in that respect if not bring in more...

From what you guys have said, and thank you, I dont think my reasoning is flawed and I might pick up 2 or 3.

My local dealer is very knowledgeable regarding panda coins. He bought a bunch from me. I'm sure you will find a dealer that is equally so in your area.

Yes, I think, thinking that the slab is insurance, regarding it being genuine, is smart and like you said, "A no-brainer".
